We Passed The Send Network Assessment

Published: October 8, 2022

Hello Life Church family,

The Send Network Assessment occurred over two days at the Citylight Church in Falls Church, Virginia. It was a process that involved multiple interviews with both Pastor Ben and Hope that ran an hour each in the areas of Calling, Emotional and Spiritual health. Communication, Family Dynamic, Missional Engagement, Leadership, Disciple-Making, Vision, and Social Skills, as well as workshops, testimonies and lessons from experienced church planters and missionaries from the Send Network.

The assessment had around 20 candidates from all over the east coast as well as candidates who were focused on planting for Chinese-speaking communities. Aside from interviews and assessments, Pastor Ben and Hope were given much encouragement and affirmation for the call that God has placed on Life Church to be a replanted missional body of believers at the SAARC in Brandywine.

Pastor Ben also had to preach a 15-minute sermon in order to show his capability to preach the gospel in front of a Professor of preaching from a Southeastern seminary as well as the Send Network Communication assessor. Through this process, he was affirmed and encouraged to continue preaching and teaching the word, and was given critique to improve his sermon structure and content.

After around nine hours of assessments, the final verdict was given today: WE PASSED, and Life Church is now part of the Send Network!

What this means is that we now have access to training, fund raising, mentorship, partnership and a network of volunteers who will be mobilized should we have large events that need extra hands, among many other things. The assessment group will send their final report and recommendations to our sending church - Clinton Baptist Church and Pastor Colin Pugh for coaching, accountability, and the particular ways they can support us.

This is exciting news, so join us in our next ministry huddles and family talks so we can continue our conversations on how we can carry out the Great Commission from where we are!

Matthew 28:16-20

"Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
